Red Sox lose a great public announcer

In 1994 on January 1 the Red Sox lose a great public anouncer legend, Sherm Feller. Sherm was a song writer aswell as a composer. His most famous work was the song "Summertime, Summertime." Also on this same day Dan Duquette became the general manager of the Boston Red Sox.

Boston WCVB Clemen's Threat

On channel 5 in boston in 1989 Roger Clemen's made a threat to reporters that were reporting on his private family life. Clemen's in short said that "someone's going to get hurt and its not going to be me" when referring to reporters speaking ill of his family. Also on Janauary 24 in 1977 the Pawtucket Red Sox was taken over by Ben Modor.

Red Sox Scout Danny Mozon Dies and Red Sox Uniforms Change

This is a sad day in Red Sox history as back in 1996 the best scout the Red Sox had from Latin America died in a car crash in the Dominican Republic.

In 1924 Red Sox players were given new uniforms to sport they would no longer were the legendary blue strip and would instead wear a uniform that would hug the knees and be loose around the hips.

On January 3rd of 1973 CBS sells the Yankees to Steinbrenner aswell as minority owners that contributed a total of $10 million. CBS reportedly took a loss on the transaction. Steinner said that he would not be that involved in the Yankees organized and would mostly be focusing on his ship building business. A business that would later file for bankruptcy in 1993.

Well this day in Red Sox history proves to be an important one. On January 1st, 2005 the Boston Red Sox will enter into the new year as World Champions for the first time in over 86 years. Also in 1920 Babe Ruth wanted his $10,000 salary double to $20,000 by the Boston Red Sox. He said if they could do not it, he simply would leave Major League Baseball rather than play for another team.
